Course Terms & Conditions

Ts and Cs from September 2023 AUSTRALIA JAZZ SCHOOL TERMS AND CONDITIONS Revised 01st June 2024, comes into effect from 1st July 2024.

These terms and conditions form the basis of the contract between Australia Jazz School Ltd, ABN 57670109350, and Customers(students). Customers are subject to and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

In these terms and conditions, the following definitions apply:

Services For Education means the company Australia Jazz School Ltd which provides the Music Education Service and its Music Schools. References to “Australia Jazz School”/“we”/”our” are to Services For Music Education.

Customer means any individual to whom Australia Jazz School Ltd. supplies tuition and/or sessions for its music courses. “Customer” will need to be at least 18 years of age. References to “you”/ “your”/” student(s)” are to the Customer.

Due Date means the date outlined in any correspondence regarding payment or booking. Course(s) means the provided jazz course for instrumentals/vocal sessions to be provided by Australia Jazz School Ltd to the Customer. Courses can take place in one of the following formats: a) In-Person sessions at a Music School venue or suitable alternative b) Sessions that take place at a performance venue c) Flexi Sessions that are a mix of In-Person and ad hoc as required.

Music Course(s) campus means the venue at which the sessions are provided.

Price means the charge for the music education services. All charges are exempt from GST or included if applicable.

Personal Data means the information about you. Australia Jazz School collects this information from the Customer to be able to provide its services.

Booking means the Customer wishes to attend the course (s) within the period agreed.

Teacher(s) and/or Tutor(s) means any employee or contractor of Australia Jazz School delivering music or related sessions.

Terms mean the terms set out in these terms and conditions of business.

Course means the period of sessions the Customer has signed up to receive from Australia Jazz School, usually a continuous 5-day set of daily activities with evening performances.

  1. Changes to Terms Any changes to these Terms are valid only if agreed between Australia Jazz School and the Customer. From time to time, we may update these terms and conditions and where possible send notification of minor changes. Should you choose not to accept these changes please notify us of your nonacceptance within 14 days of notification. Otherwise, the changes will take effect upon the expiry of the 14th day.
  2. Booking a course for instrumental/vocal sessions is provided through a 5-day in-week course. Sessions run in accordance with our course dates. All course dates can be found on our website and will be clear on any acceptance emails. https://australiajazzschool.com When signing up for courses, Australia Jazz School will work to ensure the Customer has the best possible experience suited to their ability and experience.

2.1 Course daily activities may be varied at short notice as circumstances change, Australia Jazz School will always aim to provide the most productive musical experience possible within the venue, tutor, student, and any other parameters that may affect day-to-day activities.

2.2 Customers will be expected to attend all mandated sessions, particularly when small group ensembles are involved.

  1. Personal Data Australia Jazz School will use the Customer’s name(s), address, telephone number, email address and payment details (your Personal Data) to process your booking. We will only use your Personal Data in accordance with our privacy notice which is available to view on our website at: https://australiajazzschool.com/privacynotice Our privacy notice also contains details of your right to withdraw your consent, to update your preferences, to request further information, and to make a complaint.
  2. Price and Payment Arrangements: The price of the Easter Jazz Course for 2025 is £1950.00. Music sessions and tuition provided as part of Australia Jazz School’s course are based on the model of a 5-day in-house course with daily activities and evening jazz ensemble sessions as delivered for many years in the UK and Europe in accordance with the Jazz Summer School. Customers are not permitted to book individual Lessons. Full payment is required by 31 January 2025. Payments can be made via an initial 50% deposit to secure a place on the course, and the remaining payment will be required by 31  January 2025.
  3. Refunds and Cancellations This clause applies to all formats of courses and sessions. You may cancel your contract with Australia Jazz School within 14 days of your deposit and within the deposit’s final deposit date – 31st  January 2025, which incurs a $20 admin and bank fee. Cancellations after 31st  January 2025 may only be eligible for up to 50% of total paid fees if a replacement customer registers and pays in full and the position on the course is filled.

Complaints If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the Lessons, level of customer service or our performance of this agreement, please send your complaint in writing to the Head of Music School by post or by email (see above). Any determination made by Services For Education arising from the Terms shall be final. If your complaint is not resolved by us, or if you remain dissatisfied, you may use the Online Dispute Resolution service which provides alternative dispute resolution. You are not obliged to use this service and it does not affect any other rights or remedies that you may have, but it is free to use and may assist you in resolving your dispute quickly and easily.   2. Conditions for Instrument Use: Customers will be able to use on-site pianos and drum kits for the duration of the course. Drummers are eligible to bring their own kit if they wish. Prior notification will be required.

All other instrumentalists will need to bring their own instruments and amplifications. Australia Jazz School may assist in procuring instruments and amplification if required, additional hiring costs may be involved.

Customers will be expected to treat any on-site or hired instrument with care and attention, compensation will be sought should the customer cause any damage.

  1. Exclusion of Liability Australia Jazz School does not accept liability for loss or damage to Customers’ instruments or personal possessions. It is your responsibility to arrange appropriate insurance for these items.
  2. Behaviour All Customers are expected to behave in a responsible and courteous manner within the Music School and course(s) at all times and to attend sessions as required. Poor attendance, disruptive behaviour, or antisocial behaviour may result in tuition being withdrawn with immediate effect and the customer will be asked to leave the course.   3. Teachers & Tutors All Teachers and Tutors are highly qualified, trained and subject to Australia Jazz School’s rigorous safeguarding and employment checks. Australia Jazz School monitors quality and provides continuing support for all staff. Observation of Teachers’ work for routine performance management may take place during your session. This is non-intrusive to the session, content, pace, or flow.
  4. Safeguarding Australia Jazz School is committed to the highest standards in promoting the welfare of our customers and protecting them from harm at all times.

Australia Jazz School is committed to:

  • Protecting customers who receive our services;
  • Ensuring that all members of staff are properly trained and supported in safeguarding;
  • Ensuring that all teachers, tutors, and staff have DBS clearance checks.

All staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which individuals can learn. We recognise that some customers, young people and adults may become the victims of neglect, physical, sexual or emotional abuse and that Australia Jazz School staff, by virtue of their knowledge and contact with these individuals, are well placed to identify and report such abuse so individuals may be effectively supported as appropriate.

  1. Resources Customers may be required to purchase music books/scores and any relevant accessories as required to support their learning. As individual learning requirements are different, please speak to your teacher/tutor about any additional support materials that you may need.

13 Performances Australia Jazz School Concerts From time to time, the Music School will organise informal concerts to celebrate success and progress as well as facilitate the opportunity to gain essential performance experience. Taking part in a concert of this kind with the teacher’s support would be in the place of a lesson for that week.
